New Delhi, May 11, 2021: Committed to aiding the needy and destitute during the Covid-19 pandemic, Wishes and Blessings NGO has started providing medical essentials such as oximeters, paracetamol, masks and sanitisers to shelter homes and night shelters (rainbaseras) across Delhi from May 6th, 2021. The distribution drives have been launched to protect and keep track of the health of the underprivileged and homeless residing in these shelters.

“While the homes provide necessary safe shelter to the homeless and underprivileged, several establishments and shelter homes are not equipped with necessary supplies required to monitor and protect the residents,” says Dr. Geetanjali Chopra, Founder & President of Wishes and Blessings NGO.

To ensure the wellbeing of some residents during this crisis, the Wishes and Blessings team held the first round of several drives planned, distributing 58oximeters, 200 strips of paracetamol, and masks and sanitisers to all residents in shelter homes across Delhi/NCR including in Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi Gate, Munirka, Safdarjung, Okhla amongst others. “We are humbled to be able to offer aid directly to those on the ground. The rise of Covid cases is extremely worrying and the relief distributed ensures that there is regular monitoring of the beneficiaries, and immediate care and action can be taken if the residents fall ill,” adds Dr. Chopra. The team will continue to provide medical supplies to homes in need, and aims to distribute a total of 300 such kits across Delhi/NCR.

The Wishes and Blessings Covid Relief Project was officially launched on day 1 of the lockdown ie 25th March 2020, and provided relief and aid in 7 states across India. Since then, the team has served over 20,00,000 meals, distributed 70,000+ dry ration kits and provided 23,000+ hygiene kits to the beneficiaries. Currently, the Project is active in 5 states- Assam, Delhi, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, and aims at fulfilling immediate and long-term requirements of the needy and destitute affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
